Guest sentiment
A snapshot of what local diners frequently mention about this location.
"Booked a table and a couple roe crabs via WhatsApp, the staff was accommodating, esp when I told her the flight was delayed. The roe crabs got time to cook (~30 min), but worth the wait. Look at how full of tasty roes they were, and very meaty~ Enjoyed it, and agreed that just grilling it with salt was simple and perfect, so patrons could get its natural flavors. The signature fried chicken with prawn crackers were crispy outside and juicy inside. The braised pork belly beehoon was flavorful, I'd just crave for more corianders on the top. Overall, the meal was tasty and affordable, and the ambience merry (besides a group sitting next to us was extremely loud...!)."
"A cosy small seafood restaurant that could accommodate about 6 to 7 groups of people. When we went for dinner on a weekday night, only a few of the menu options were available and the rest had all been sold out. The salted fish bean sprouts was delicious and the belly pork bee hoon was very tasty. The salted mud crab was good though there was no female mud crab left. Suggest to pre book ahead of time. We waited about 45 minutes for food to be served. But it was worth the wait. Service is friendly and food is good."
"Cosy seafood spot in the heart of Georgetown, was recommended here by a YouTuber and was glad the food was on point! made a reservation earlier in the afternoon via WhatsApp for a table for 4 and managed to get a table, and was able to be seated the moment we arrived The menu was limited as expected of a humble establishment like they have, but it no doubt featured the best dishes they could offer. the stingray was a miss in our opinion, though this is largely due to our preference in taste profile - where we felt that it’s a little too powdery for us, and that it differed from what we expected of a curry/Asam dish the beansprout and qinglong was a crowd favourite, we all loved it and wished it was a larger plate despite it being a generous sized one the crab was a proper 650g at 180RM/kg, a rather rare find since its salt baked, unlike the usual chilli/black pepper variants - which allowed us to fully savour its freshness and sweetness without the added flavours. It does take 40-45 minutes to be prepared upon ordering though, where they would remind you upon ordering. There was no complaints in general, other than the stingray not being to our liking - staff was friendly and was multi lingual too. Definitely would return to enjoy a single crab each in future, which would likely make it a full 5 stars experience"
"The seafood here is incredibly fresh, which makes a huge difference in the taste. The highlight for me was definitely the lala soup—it was flavorful and sweet, easily the best dish of the night. The only downside is the waiting time; it took quite a while to get seated and served. I would highly recommend this place if you want great food, but only if you aren't in a rush."
"Come here if you are a seafood lover. Super fresh! They only offer catch of the day and every dish was on point. Stingray curry - stingray was juicy. Curry was fragrant and just a little spicy Bean sprouts - a mountain was served and demolished. The bits of salted fish added the right touch of savory Lala - outstanding. Polished everything including the sauce/soup. Some folks might find the ginger/wine taste too strong but it’s ok for us. Salt baked prawns - firm and juicy prawn. Taste its natural sweetness. Vast world of difference from a famous restaurant which served us prawns that weren’t fresh Crab - add on order after we tasted the lala (first dish). Oh boy, we didn’t regret and polished that off too. There’s only 2 of us but we managed to finished everything - 5 dishes + 1 rice :) Pls keep up the standard and we hope to come again when we’re in Penang!! Kudos the chefs"
"Crab is ok but size and pricing very good. Garlic prawn was delicious and big portion . Clam very well balanced and cooked well. Overall recomended. Better booking in advance as alot of group i see need to wait."
"We stumbled upon this restaurant by chance while feeling very hungry, and decided to go in—without even realising it’s a well-known spot. We ended up dining there twice during our three-day visit to Penang! You absolutely must try their garlic prawns—so addictive. The stir-fried vegetables were excellent, and even something as simple as the deep-fried chicken wings impressed us. The crabs didn’t quite leave the same impression, but if you’re a crab lover, we recommend going for the meat crabs as the texture was firmer and more satisfying than the roe ones."
"My second visit as I am a visitor to Penang. The food is really very delicious and satisfying. Every item we had was superb. This includes the braised pork beehoon, stingray curry, vegetables and the chicken wings. Special mention goes to Cherry who multitasked and served us with warmth and zest."
